Mummy CT Scans - Extracting Pet Menekh's Skull

Details

In this project, I collaborated with an Egyptologist affiliated with the St Louis Art Museum to manipulate CT scan data.

Using scan data collected by Washington University in St Louis, I extracted the bone data from Pet Menekh's skull. Then, we conducted a 72 hour (!) print with tree supports that included all sinus cavity structures.

The final product turned out incredibly well, and is a testament to the value of 3d printing in non-invasive study of ancient objects. A copy of this skull is now in the St Louis Art Museum collection.
