In 2023, I was approached by Jon Wee and Owen Morse (The Passing Zone) to re-create the International Jugglers' Association (IJA) Teams Trophy.

The original teams trophy was created by sculptor Joe D., but the mold had been irreparably damaged. 3d scanning seemed to be the only solution -- but one that was far too expensive to be pursued by a small nonprofit arts organization.

I stepped in to help with the scan and manufacture of the trophies for the 2024 winners -- and continue to create two of these trophies for the organization every year.

It's a multi-step process to replicate a complex organic model like this trophy. Printing in seven parts, sealing any seams involved in assembly, then giving them a final metal treatment with glaze and metallic waxes -- before being mounted on a hardwood plinth and shipped for presentation to the winners at the IJA's annual event.

A labor of love, but what an honor to be involved in celebrating some of the best circus performers in the world!
